Created by Girl Scouts Heart of the South area girls, this day of recognition aims to honor the 70% of women with children under 18 years of age who participate in today’s labor force. At great personal sacrifice, the working mothers of the world make substantial contributions not only to corporate success but also to the Nations’ economic growth and to the increasing strength of the American family!
In 2018, Welch’s conducted a survey of 2,000 American mothers with kids between 5 and 12 years of age. The study revealed that a mother starts her day, on average, at 6:23 a.m. and doesn’t conclude duties until 8:31 p.m. working a 14-hour day, seven days a week. The study offered that a working mom clocks in 98 hours, making it equivalent to working 2.5 full-time jobs.
So these amazing girls got together and founded Working Mothers Day to be celebrated the Friday before Mothers Day each year!
